One person died and others were hurt and displaced after a fire broke out in an apartment on the 8th floor of a 10-story building in the 4600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SW in Southwest Washington, D.C. Nine adults, two children, two dogs and a cat were displaced by the fire. A firefighter and three adults were taken to hospitals with injuries initially described as non-life-threatening. D.C.'s Arson Task Force, made up of DC Fire and EMS, the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, is investigating the fire as arson.
