A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred in the Cully Neighborhood of Portland, Oregon, when an Infiniti G35 traveling westbound on Northeast Lombard Street at a high rate of speed failed to negotiate the turn onto Northeast Killingsworth Street, lost control, and struck a metal light pole. A passenger in the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was transported to a hospital with numerous injuries. Portland Police's Major Crash Team believes excessive speed and alcohol were factors, and criminal charges are pending.
