On June 30, 2026, at approximately 7:40 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the 27500 block of Thompson Corner Road in Mechanicsville, Maryland, for a reported single-vehicle crash. A green pickup truck left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and then collided with a stand of trees. The driver, 27-year-old Malik Javonn Somerville of Chaptico, was trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
