Assault Rowan North Carolina in Rowan, North Carolina: A 58-year-old North Carolina woman, Paula Marlowe, was charged with attempted first-degree murder after investigators say she admitted to attacking her husband Jerry Marlowe while he slept at their home near the intersection of Godbey Road and Woodleaf Road in Rowan County. Deputies responded at approximately 2:52 a.m. on June 30, 2026, to assist EMS after Jerry reported he was bleeding. Paula allegedly confessed to assaulting her husband and told detectives she intended to kill him, set the residence on fire, and then take her own life because of alleged financial difficulties. Jerry suffered serious injuries but survived the attack.
