Assault Nevada Today in Nevada: Julio Alvarez Lopez, a Mexican national granted lawful permanent resident status in 2018, pleaded guilty Thursday after admitting he bundled three pens together with hairbands before boarding a Seattle-to-Las Vegas flight and tried to stab another passenger 'through the eye to reach his brain.' About 30 minutes before landing in Las Vegas, Lopez allegedly left his seat, went to the restroom, and upon returning began punching, hitting, and stabbing a passenger seated across the aisle, with witnesses reporting 'blood everywhere.' A law enforcement officer aboard ordered Lopez to sit down, and flight attendants and passengers restrained him for the remainder of the flight. The plane landed safely at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, where Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers took Lopez into custody.
