California Highway Patrol officers responded around 9:45 p.m. to the intersection of Avenue 17 and Road 28 1/2, where a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2019 Jeep Wrangler collided. The Chevrolet driver failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection, where the Jeep struck it on the front end. The impact sent both vehicles onto a nearby home's property, where they crashed through a chain-link fence and struck a parked Chevrolet Colorado. The 18-year-old Chevrolet driver was pronounced dead at the scene; three others suffered injuries ranging from minor to major. CHP said alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors.
