Yonkers police had joined the pursuit shortly after 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, after the vehicle was stolen in New York City. The car was traveling south on Interstate 87 and the Major Deegan Expressway when it turned off the highway and went the wrong way on the Mosholu Parkway exit ramp to the Deegan, where it hit the patrol car. The suspect fled after the shooting and had not been found as of early Thursday afternoon. The officer suffered unspecified injuries from the crash and was in stable condition.
