Yonkers police had joined the pursuit shortly after 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, after the car was stolen in New York City. The car was heading south on Interstate 87 and the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx when it turned off the highway and headed the wrong-way on the Mosholu Parkway exit ramp to the Deegan, where it struck the Yonkers marked patrol car. The officer fired several shots at the car after the suspect drove at him; the suspect fled and had not been found as of early Thursday afternoon. The officer suffered unspecified injuries from the crash and was in stable condition.
