Car Crash Lancaster South Carolina in Lancaster, South Carolina: A Beechcraft BE55 with two people on board crashed through trees and caught fire before 1 a.m. Thursday in a wooded area off Brooklyn Avenue just outside Lancaster city limits in Lancaster County, South Carolina. The pilot reported engine failure before the crash, and efforts to divert the plane for a safe landing were unsuccessful. Both occupants, believed to be pilots, were taken to burn centers; their names were not released. The plane had taken off from Poplarville-Pearl River County Airport in Mississippi and was headed to Stanly County Airport in Albemarle, N.C., and is owned by Pressley Aviation, a North Carolina flight school. The FAA and federal officials are handling the investigation.
