Shooting Washington District Of Columbia in Washington, District of Columbia: Two adult men were shot and wounded at a place of worship in Northeast Washington, D.C. on the afternoon of June 29, 2026, after gunfire was reported near 17th Street and Gales Street, Northeast. Both victims suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were transported by DC Fire and EMS to area hospitals. While detectives interviewed witnesses inside the church, officers observed a 16-year-old carrying two backpacks and found him in possession of two firearms; he was arrested without incident and charged with carrying a pistol without a license, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of a large-capacity ammunition feeding device. Police are continuing to investigate whether the juvenile was involved in the shooting.
