Aircraft Alaska Today in Anchorage, Alaska: A pilot with a suspended commercial certificate was killed when his plane crashed in mountainous terrain southeast of Cordova, Alaska. The NTSB preliminary report states the airplane impacted steep, mountainous terrain around noon on June 15, 2026, and a post-crash fire incinerated much of the wreckage. The plane was reported overdue to the Juneau Flight Service Station that evening, and the wreckage was discovered on June 19 by the Alaska Army National Guard, though the site was not reached until June 25 due to crash location and adverse weather. The pilot's body was found in the plane.
