Car Crash Schuylkill County He Pennsylvania in Schuylkill County He, Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael Pahira Jr., 44, was killed on Wednesday morning while conducting a commercial vehicle safety inspection on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County. He was struck by a passing vehicle, which then collided with the vehicle being inspected and caught fire. Pahira, assigned to Troop L in Frackville and a nearly 20-year veteran of state police, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the striking vehicle, 33-year-old Michael Bond, was hospitalized and is facing charges of homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and other offenses.
