Car Crash Schuylkill Pennsylvania in Schuylkill, Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Michael Pahira Jr., a nearly 20-year veteran assigned to Troop L in Frackville, was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer while conducting a commercial vehicle safety inspection on the southbound shoulder of Interstate 81 near mile marker 119 in Cass Township, Schuylkill County, shortly before 7 a.m. on Wednesday. A second tractor-trailer left the roadway for unknown reasons, struck Pahira's parked patrol pickup, pushed it into the inspected vehicle, and then hit the trooper. Pahira was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill, where he later died from his injuries. The circumstances surrounding why the second tractor-trailer left the roadway remain under investigation.
