Semi Truck Crash Schuylkill Pennsylvania in Schuylkill, Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael E. Pahira, 44, was killed in the line of duty while conducting a commercial vehicle inspection along Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. Pahira was inspecting a tractor-trailer in front of his marked patrol unit with emergency lights activated when a semi truck veered off the highway, struck the patrol unit's side mirror, and hit Pahira. Both the vehicle being inspected and the semi truck caught fire. Pahira was seriously injured and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was assigned to Troop L as a motor carrier inspector and is the 106th member of the Pennsylvania State Police to die in the line of duty.
