Car Crash Schuylkill Pennsylvania in Schuylkill, Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael Pahira Jr., 44, was conducting a commercial vehicle safety inspection on Interstate 81 southbound near mile marker 119 in Cass Township, Schuylkill County, just before 7 a.m. when a second commercial vehicle driven by 33-year-old Michael Bon of Brockton, Massachusetts, left the roadway and struck Pahira's patrol pickup, then veered into the tractor-trailer being inspected. Pahira was struck and carried under the truck for a distance, and both commercial vehicles caught fire. Pahira was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill, where he was pronounced dead after roughly 90 minutes of treatment. Bon was also injured and hospitalized; bail was set at $700,000 cash and he is being held at Schuylkill County Prison. The driver of the inspected truck was not injured.
