Hit And Run Schuylkill Pennsylvania in Schuylkill, Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael E. Pahira Jr., 44, was conducting a commercial truck inspection around 7 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 81 south in Cass Township, Schuylkill County, when a second truck driven by Michael Bon, 33, of Brockton, allegedly left the roadway, struck the patrol unit's side mirror, hit the back of the inspected truck, and struck Pahira. Bon allegedly continued driving with the trooper trapped under the truck for a distance before the truck caught fire. Pahira was removed by emergency responders, rushed to an area hospital, and pronounced dead. He is the 106th Pennsylvania State Police member to die in the line of duty. Bon faces charges including involuntary manslaughter and recklessly endangering another person.
