Car Crash Cook Minnesota in Cook, Minnesota: A two-vehicle crash occurred at an intersection near Cook, Minnesota on July 1, 2026, when a pickup truck driven by Ayden Houde, 20, of Orr, failed to stop at a stop sign on Samuelson Road and struck a marked St. Louis County sheriff's SUV driven by Deputy Brett Lucas, 50, of Britt, who was westbound on Highway 1 about 2 miles northwest of Cook. Houde suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Essentia Health hospital in Duluth. Deputy Lucas was treated at Cook Hospital for injuries that did not appear life-threatening. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash.
