Car Crash Volusia Florida in Volusia, Florida: A 30-year-old Astor man driving a Buick Rendezvous eastbound on State Road 40 lost control of the SUV, veered onto the south shoulder, then overcorrected into westbound lanes and collided head-on with an oncoming Ford F-350 hauling a trailer. The Buick driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ford's driver, a 19-year-old Bunnell man, and passenger, a 39-year-old DeLand man, sustained minor injuries; the passenger was taken to AdventHealth DeLand and the driver later transported himself to a local hospital. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which occurred around 5:25 a.m. near Check Station Road.
