One dead after crash on Interstate 81 in Shenandoah County

Car Crash Shenandoah Virginia in Shenandoah, Virginia: A 2013 Honda Crosstour was stopped in the right travel lane of Interstate 81 northbound at the 286 mile-marker in Shenandoah County when it was struck by a 2011 Freightliner tractor trailer on July 2, 2026, at approximately 3:18 a.m. The driver of the Honda, 78-year-old Dennis L. Marshall, was standing near the front of the vehicle and was struck and killed at the scene. The tractor trailer then struck a bridge barrier and overturned. A passenger in the Honda and the tractor trailer driver suffered injuries. The interstate was closed for hours as Virginia State Police investigated.
