Car Crash Bracken Kentucky in Bracken, Kentucky: A head-on crash on Kentucky 9 (AA Highway) near Dutch Ridge Road in Bracken County killed two people on Sunday around 6:45 p.m., according to Kentucky State Police. Brandon Barrett, driving a 2004 Ford SUV westbound, attempted to pass on a double yellow line and collided head-on with a 2024 Kia. The Kia's driver, Tyler Smith, and front-seat passenger, Emily Smith, both of Bracken County, died at the scene. Barrett was taken to University of Kentucky Medical Center, then arrested by University of Kentucky Police and booked into Fayette County Detention Center on charges of reckless homicide and wanton endangerment. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
