Investigators said Trooper Pahira was inspecting a tractor trailer along I-81 when another tractor trailer left the road, struck his truck, then struck him and the tractor trailer being inspected, carrying him under the truck for a distance. Both tractor trailers caught fire, and Trooper Pahira was stuck at the front end of one. The driver of the struck tractor trailer was taken to the hospital; the driver of the other tractor trailer was not injured.
