Car Crash Pennsylvania Today in Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Michael E. Pahira was conducting a commercial motor vehicle safety inspection on the shoulder of Interstate 81 South in Butler Township at approximately 7:01 a.m. on July 1, 2026, when Michael Bon, 33, of Brockton, Massachusetts, allegedly drove a white 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer off the roadway and onto the right shoulder. Bon's truck struck the driver's-side mirror of Pahira's marked patrol Ford F-350 before crashing into the rear of the stopped red Freightliner being inspected. Pahira, who was standing alongside the truck he was inspecting, was struck and pinned beneath the front bumper of Bon's truck, and a fire immediately engulfed Bon's tractor-trailer. Bon has been charged with Felony Homicide by Vehicle, Felony Aggravated Assault by Vehicle, Misdemeanor Involuntary Manslaughter, and related offenses.
