Car Crash Pennsylvania Today in Pennsylvania: Michael Bon, 33, of Brockton, Massachusetts, was charged with multiple felonies including homicide by vehicle after his white 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer struck and killed Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Michael E. Pahira during a commercial vehicle inspection on the shoulder of Interstate 81 South in Butler Township on July 1, 2026. Pahira was standing alongside a stopped red Freightliner he was inspecting with driver Walter Alfredo Reinoso when Bon's truck veered off the roadway, struck Pahira's patrol vehicle, and pinned the trooper beneath its front bumper. A fire engulfed Bon's tractor-trailer after the crash, and witnesses hesitated to help due to exploding tires and flames.
