Head-on crash on US-24 near Silver Lake kills Topeka man

Car Crash Kansas Today in northwest Shawnee, Kansas: A 28-year-old Topeka man was killed and his passenger seriously injured on July 1, 2026, in a head-on collision on US-24 highway about two miles east of Silver Lake in northwest Shawnee County, Kansas. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the man's westbound 2023 Kia Soul collided head-on with an eastbound 2025 Ram 1500 pickup truck whose driver was attempting to pass other vehicles. The pickup's driver suffered minor injuries; all three people involved were wearing seat belts. The crash remained under investigation.
