Car Crash Catawba North Carolina in Catawba, North Carolina: A 2023 Toyota RAV4 traveling on Old Shelby Road crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2017 Toyota Sienna minivan around 7:30 a.m. in rural Catawba County south of Interstate 40. Five people were taken to the hospital, including three children between the ages of 3 and 7. The driver of the RAV4, Bobbie Sigmon, 44, was airlifted to Atrium Health CMC Main in Charlotte with serious injuries, while the driver of the Sienna, Lia Vue, 35, was transported to UNC Health Blue Ridge with minor injuries. One child was later airlifted to Levine Children's Hospital with more serious injuries. The Highway Patrol said the initial investigation does not suspect speed or impairment as contributing factors.
