The pair made it about halfway across the lake before the father got into trouble. First responders entered the water and recovered him unconscious after roughly 20 minutes; lifesaving measures were attempted and he was pronounced dead at Owosso Memorial Hospital. Officials said no life preservers were used and the father had allegedly left the safe swim area of the lake.
