DWI suspect crashes into traffic stop on I-190 in Tonawanda…
Dui Crash New York Today in New York: A New York State Trooper escaped injury on July 1 at 7:38 p.m. when a suspected DWI driver crashed into an active traffic stop on I-190 southbound at mile-marker 13.9 in the town of Tonawanda. The trooper was standing outside a marked State Police Charger with emergency lights activated when a 2014 Dodge Ram pulling a dolly trailer, operated by 34-year-old James Phalen, struck a 2007 Ford Focus, which then struck the trooper's Charger. The trooper jumped over a concrete center barrier into the northbound lanes to avoid being hit. Phalen was uninjured and was arrested for DWI and cited for other vehicle and traffic offenses.
