DWI driver causes multi-vehicle crash on I-190 in Tonawanda…

Dui Crash Of Alden New York in of Alden, New York: On July 1, 2026, at approximately 7:38 p.m., a 2014 Dodge Ram operated by James R. Phalen, 34, of Alden, NY, struck a 2007 Ford Focus on I-190 southbound at milepost 13.9 in the town of Tonawanda. The Ford Focus then struck a marked State Police Charger (4T70) that was on scene with emergency lights activated for an earlier one-car property damage collision, pushing it into the 2025 Dodge Charger from the original call. A responding Trooper jumped over the concrete center barrier to avoid being hit. Phalen was uninjured and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations by additional responding Troopers.
