Boating Accident Minnesota Today in Minnesota: Rick Karns of Bemidji was fishing on June 30, 2026, on a Bemidji-area lake when his boat was struck by another boat traveling at a high rate of speed. The other boat landed nearly on top of Karns's boat, pinning him underneath while his friend was thrown from the boat. Emergency responders worked about 30 minutes to free Karns before he was rushed to a hospital and then airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, where he remained in the ICU with multiple broken bones and fractures.
