Workplace Accident Berry Alabama in Berry, Alabama: A 24-year-old coal miner, identified as Justin Calloway of Cordova, died on July 1, 2026, after a workplace accident at a Warrior Met Coal mine in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. At around 6 p.m., the miner was found unresponsive underground at an active mine in the 22000 block of Alabama Highway 69 North in Berry. He was brought to the surface but did not survive. Investigators believe the death was the result of a machinery accident underground, with no suspected foul play. The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is working with the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and federal agencies, including the Mine Safety and Health Administration, to investigate.
