Car Crash Wilkes North Carolina in Wilkes, North Carolina: A 21-year-old man died after a head-on collision in Wilkes County, North Carolina. The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened Wednesday morning on Highway 16 North near Alicia Staley Road. Troopers said 21-year-old Obaldo Balcedua Acevedo was driving north when he crossed the center line and struck a pickup truck head-on in the southbound lane. Acevedo was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was hospitalized with serious injuries.
