12-year-old loses hand in mortar firework explosion in Tulsa
Vehicle Fire Tulsa Oklahoma in Tulsa, Oklahoma: A 12-year-old boy lost a hand and suffered significant trauma to his eyes when a softball-sized mortar firework exploded while he was holding it for an 11-year-old to light. The Tulsa Police Department and Tulsa Fire Department responded to a call around 10:20 p.m. on July 1 near 46th Street North and Main in Tulsa. Both victims were taken to a local hospital, and the 12-year-old was airlifted to Oklahoma City for further treatment. The 11-year-old also had a similar explosive in his pocket, which injured him.
