Car Crash Jasper Iowa in Jasper, Iowa: A pickup truck rear-ended a car stopped at a flashing railroad crossing at the Highway T12 crossing near North 39th Avenue E near Newton in Jasper County, according to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office. The impact pushed the car onto the tracks just before it was struck by a train. The driver of the car jumped out while the vehicle was being pushed down the tracks, sustaining injuries not believed to be life-threatening, and was taken to the hospital. The pickup truck driver, 24-year-old Eric Ramos-Lucas, was charged with failing to stop in assured clear distance. The crash blocked the only road access for about 15 homes north of the tracks for roughly two and a half hours, residents said, after a 90-year-old bridge over the North Skunk River was demolished earlier this year.
