One person dies in apartment fire in Columbia, Maryland

Vehicle Fire Columbia Maryland in Columbia, Maryland: One person died after an apartment fire in Columbia, Maryland, on Tuesday, July 1, 2026. Howard County Fire officials said first responders were called to an apartment in the 11500 block of Little Patuxent Parkway around 5:45 p.m. and found an adult in cardiac arrest along with a kitchen fire inside one of the units. Despite first aid efforts, the person died on the scene. The fire took about 10 minutes to extinguish and no firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
