Vehicle Fire Dallas Texas in Dallas, Texas: An underground natural gas line that was struck before a deadly apartment explosion in Dallas had not been identified or marked, according to a preliminary NTSB report. The May 28 explosion and fire destroyed an apartment building at 409 E. Ninth St. in the Oak Cliff neighborhood, killing three people and injuring at least six others. A third-party contractor, Barba Drilling, was conducting soil sampling with a drill rig for Engineering and Consulting Services Southwest, LLP when it struck the unmarked gas line. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a reported gas leak at 12:49 p.m., notified Atmos Energy at 12:51 p.m., and the explosion occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m.
