Car Crash Texas Today in Texas: Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Erika Serrato, 24, was struck and killed by a heavy-duty commercial motor vehicle pulling a trailer while she was outside her patrol vehicle directing traffic at the scene of an initial DWI crash. Deputies had responded shortly before 2:45 a.m. Sunday to multiple 911 calls about a multiple-vehicle crash, with marked patrol units parked and emergency lights activated. The driver of the commercial vehicle, 20-year-old Ian Perez, was released from a local hospital and arrested on a charge of Passing Certain Vehicles Causing Bodily Injury for allegedly failing to slow down or move over for emergency vehicles. The fatal secondary crash is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety, and additional or enhanced charges may be filed. The initial DWI crash driver was identified as 34-year-old Ashton Jammer.
