Police Pursuit Crash Emporia Kansas in Emporia, Kansas: An Emporia police officer attempted a traffic stop within city limits shortly after 11 a.m., and the driver allegedly fled south on Kansas Highway 99. Lyon County sheriff's deputies joined the pursuit, which continued after the vehicle left Emporia city limits. The suspect vehicle sideswiped a northbound vehicle carrying three occupants before colliding with it in the 1300 block of South Kansas Highway 99. The suspect driver was airlifted from the scene with undisclosed injuries, while the three occupants of the northbound vehicle were evaluated by Emporia Fire and EMS and did not require hospital transport. The Kansas Highway Patrol's Critical Highway Accident Response Team is investigating.
