Car Crash Iowa Today in Iowa: A 29-year-old Marshalltown man sustained non-life-threatening injuries when his 2016 Dodge Dart was struck by a train in Jasper County northeast of Newton. The Dodge Dart had been stopped at a flashing light railroad crossing on County Highway T12 North near North 39th Avenue East when it was rear-ended by a 2007 GMC Sierra driven by 24-year-old Eric Ramos-Lucas of Marshalltown. The Dodge spun onto the tracks and was hit by a westbound train; the driver jumped from the car while it was being pushed down the tracks and was taken to MercyOne Newton Medical. Ramos-Lucas was uninjured and was cited for failing to stop at an assured clear distance.
