Hit And Run Louisiana Today in New Iberia, Louisiana: Louisiana State Police arrested Mason Couvillier of Jeanerette in connection with a single-vehicle rollover crash that killed his passenger, 24-year-old Martelian Mitchell of Franklin. The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on a Sunday on Louisiana Highway 320 near Louisiana Highway 86 in Iberia Parish when the truck entered a roundabout too fast and flipped, partially ejecting Mitchell. Couvillier allegedly fled the scene; Mitchell was taken to a hospital with severe injuries and died the following day, June 29. Police developed Couvillier as the driver through investigative tips and the inquiry remains ongoing.
