Car Crash Washington Today in Washington: A floatplane struck a high-tension power line crossing the Columbia River near the Tri-Cities cable bridge on June 24, killing the pilot and his passenger. The crash caused power outages in Kennewick and Pasco, but Benton PUD rerouted service and restored power later that afternoon. The pilot, identified as Scott Hunt, 64, was seen flying low over the cable bridge before dropping as it approached the power line crossing the river about 2:30 p.m. A contracted crew began repairs on the damaged 140-foot power line on June 30 ahead of the Fourth of July weekend.
