Climber rescued after 1,500-foot fall on Mount Shasta
Fall Injury California Today in California: A 31-year-old woman fell about 1,500 vertical feet while climbing one of Mount Shasta's most popular routes on Sunday. Low cloud cover prevented a helicopter from reaching her directly, so rescuers landed nearby and continued on foot. She was found conscious with a suspected broken right ankle and other injuries, airlifted from Lake Helen, and transported to Mercy Medical Center Mount Shasta for treatment.
