Drowning Gardendale Alabama in Gardendale, Alabama: Israel Manual Montecino-Navarro, 35, drowned Sunday afternoon while trying to save several of his children from the Cahaba River in Jefferson County, Alabama. The children had become submerged in deep water while wading at the Cahaba Blue Way River Canoe Launch, and Montecino-Navarro also became submerged while attempting the rescue and never resurfaced. Irondale Fire and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office recovered his body from the water using drone teams. His children survived the incident, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.
