Adult dies in Columbia apartment kitchen fire

Vehicle Fire Columbia Maryland in Columbia, Maryland: An adult died in a Columbia apartment kitchen fire on June 30, 2026, despite resuscitation efforts, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services. Firefighters responded at around 5:45 p.m. to the 11500 block of Little Patuxent Parkway for a report of an odor of smoke in an apartment building. Crews located a kitchen fire and an adult in cardiac arrest; the patient was pronounced deceased on the scene. The fire took approximately ten minutes to extinguish, and the cause is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal and Howard County Police Department.
