Vehicle Fire Colorado Today in Colorado: Three wildland firefighters assigned to the Rifle Helitack crew were killed while engaged in initial attack operations on the Knowles Fire at the Colorado-Utah border. Two additional firefighters were injured and were receiving medical care. The Knowles Fire merged with the Jones, Gore, and Snyder fires, which was estimated at 28,000 acres. A Complex Incident Management Team assumed command of the Snyder Fire. The U.S. Department of the Interior and U.S. Wildland Fire Service Chief Brian Fennessy announced the deaths.
