Vehicle Fire Colorado Today in Colorado: Three firefighters assigned to the Rifle Helitack crew were killed while conducting initial attack operations on the Knowles Fire in western Colorado on Saturday. Two nearby fires, the Jones and Snyder fires, merged and overran the firefighters' position on the Knowles Fire. All five firefighters involved deployed their shelters; two additional firefighters were injured and remain hospitalized. A serious accident investigation team has been mobilized to review the circumstances of the incident.
