Vehicle Fire Colorado Today in Colorado: Three wildland firefighters were killed Saturday while conducting initial attack operations on the Knowles Fire in Mesa County, Colorado, when fast-moving flames overran the crew. The deceased were Nick Hutcherson, 27, of Glendale, Arizona; Emily Barker, 38, of Michigan; and Sydney Watson, 26, of Alabama. Two other firefighters suffered burn injuries and remained under medical care. The Knowles and Gore fires later merged with other fires to form the Snyder Fire near the Colorado-Utah border, estimated at 28,000 acres as of Monday. A serious accident investigation team is reviewing the circumstances of the deaths.
