Vehicle Fire Knowles Colorado in Knowles, Colorado: Three U.S. Department of the Interior firefighters died on Saturday while engaged in initial attack operations on the Knowles Fire in western Colorado, according to federal officials. Two of the deceased were assigned to the Rifle Helitack crew. Two additional firefighters were injured and are receiving medical care. The Knowles Fire has since been overtaken by the larger Snyder Fire, which is estimated at more than 28,000 acres along the Colorado-Utah border. A serious accident investigation team has been mobilized to review the circumstances.
