Dui Crash Connection To Weekend Texas in connection to weekend, Texas: Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies responded early Sunday morning to multiple 911 calls about a multi-vehicle crash. While deputies were working the initial DWI scene with marked patrol units and emergency lights activated, a heavy-duty commercial motor vehicle pulling a trailer struck 24-year-old Deputy Erika Serrato as she stood outside her vehicle directing traffic, killing her. The driver of the initial crash, 34-year-old Ashton Jammer, was arrested on scene and charged with driving while intoxicated. The commercial vehicle driver, 20-year-old Ian Perez, was taken to the hospital and, following his release, was arrested and charged with passing certain vehicles causing bodily injury for allegedly failing to slow down or move over while passing emergency vehicles. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the deadly crash, and additional or enhanced charges against Perez may be filed.
