Car Crash The Woodlands Texas in The Woodlands, Texas: A Montgomery County Sheriff's deputy was killed early Sunday morning when a commercial truck pulling a trailer struck her while she was directing traffic at a DWI-related crash scene on Interstate 45 in The Woodlands, north of Houston. Deputy Erika Serrato, 24, was outside her patrol vehicle when the truck hit her and two marked patrol vehicles with emergency lights activated. Serrato was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries. Another deputy was struck by debris and suffered minor injuries. Ashton Jammer, 34, one of the drivers involved in the original crash, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. The commercial truck driver was also hospitalized, and the fatal crash remains under investigation.
