Car Crash The Woodlands Texas in The Woodlands, Texas: A Texas deputy was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a commercial truck while she was directing traffic at a DWI-related crash scene on Interstate 45 in The Woodlands, north of Houston. Deputy Erika Serrato, 24, of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, was outside her patrol vehicle when the heavy-duty truck pulling a trailer hit her and two marked patrol vehicles with emergency lights activated. Serrato was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries. Another deputy was struck by debris and suffered minor injuries, and the driver of the commercial truck was also hospitalized. One of the drivers involved in the original crash, 34-year-old Ashton Jammer, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and booked into the Montgomery County Jail; the fatal crash remains under investigation.
